Rise of A Robo-Cop -an SMG4 origin story-
In the beginning, he had nothing. And that was when he was just rolling off the assembly line, but he would soon have a purpose. His creator knew that, and so did anyone else involved in his creation. The head came first, rolling along the conveyer belt, and out of the processor. It looked like a simple computer screen, but it would be much more than just a computer screen. The crane came down, and picked up the head, and another machine rolled in, carrying the body. His uniform had already been chosen, a simple white button-up shirt with a blue tie along with jeans. Even a hat had been selected, bearing the symbol of the Mushroom police. Machines whirred, and sparks flew about as the crane lowered the head unto the neck of the body. Lights flickered around the room, and another machine helped the body upright before placing the hat upon the newly-made being's head. Seconds later, a beep filled the room, and the screen flashed white. And then, the eyes appeared, looking as though they'd just been drawn by a digital pencil. The mouth came last, forming a smile. A hand twitched, and rotors whirred, then the face changed from a smiley expression to a very happy face, then it became confused, followed by a very angry-looking facial expression before it switched back to a smiley face. "System operating at 99.9% efficiency." Hal Monitor buzzed, "Name accepted; Hal Monitor. Status: Ready for duty." The newly-activated Hal Monitor stepped forward, stepping off the machine, and he walked through the door as the uniformed workers stood aside, nodding and saluting the newly-constructed machine, all eager to see how Hal would do in the world. As Hal entered the room that was beyond the very chamber he'd just emerged from, the newly-built robot took notice to a piece of white paper laying on a table, and picked it up, seeing the note written upon the sheet; "Your father isn't here because he was murdered by violent criminals. He was able to leave behind one important message; 'Death is inevitable.'" Hal Monitor's face flashed a sorrowful expression, then it was replaced by anger. His hands balled into fists, and the robot let off a police siren. His father had been murdered, and something like that was not going to fly. Hal looked at himself in a mirror, and he noticed the uniform he was wearing. If he was meant to be a cop, then it was time to make crime pay. Murder was bad, it was illegal, and so was anything else deemed a crime. And yet, nothing would truly be illegal when one was on the side of justice, and Hal was going to enforce the law by any means necessary. The determined, and anger-filled robot stepped out of the facility and walked towards a police car that was on standby. He held up a gun that he obtained on his way out, and he primed it. Hal stepped into the car, turned the keys in the ignition, and he drove off towards Mushroom City. It was time to begin enforcing justice, no matter the cost. As he drove, Hal activated a program that had yet to be fully-installed; His crime-detector. He tuned in to every security camera in the city, and a radar-like device activated, Hal began scanning for nearby crimes to deal with. Today would be the day the world was introduced to the latest enforcer of justice: Mr. Hal Monitor. Just then, his crime detector, his I L L E G A L senses, began to tingle and vibrate. A crime was in progress, and it was up to Hal to put a stop to that. No one would break the law on his watch. Hal steered the car around a street corner, and rolled onto a district. The semi-rookie robot cop spotted a man in black pursuing a shapely woman in a red dress with a pink purse in her hand, and the man was holding a knife in a menacing manner. The man grabbed the woman, and held the knife beneath her cleavage while licking his lips. "No." Hal growled. He took action instantly. Hal pulled the car aside, cut the engines, and he stepped out with his gun in hand. The creep harassing the woman looked up, and broke out laughing at what he was seeing. "Are you serious?!" The man exclaimed, "A cop with a computer head? This is just ridiculous! If I were you, I'd get back in the car and throw myself in the trash, you stupid walking cop computer-head!" "Leave the woman alone!" Hal said fiercely. "Screw you, dipshit!" The creep quipped, "I'm gettin' some tasty melons tonight from this chick!" "Go away, you pervert!" The woman slapped him. "Please don't do that!" Hal Monitor said, "You are breaking the law and are crossing into I L L E G A L territory that nobody should ever partake in. You now have five seconds to step away from the woman, or there will be great consequences!" "Oh yeah!" The man grabbed the strap of the woman's dress, and he licked her shoulder, then he brought up the knife and prepared to slice through the fabric, just so he could assert his dominance without that woman's consent. Hal Monitor's face blazed with anger. It was time to take action! He stepped forward, aimed the gun at the loon, and he squeezed the trigger hard. BLAM! The creep screamed and fell over, clutching the leg that had just taken the bullet. He dropped the knife on the ground, and writhed in agony as Hal shot him in the shoulder. "You're under arrest for attempting to take advantage of a woman and threatening her." Hal Monitor intoned, he brought out a pair of cuffs that he'd found in the police car. And just like that, the woman with the purse was safe, and Hal Monitor had caught his first criminal. Even then, a police officer's work was never done. Hal made sure he brought the captured creep to a secure prison, and the staff tended to the injuries Hal had inflicted on the criminal before the man was taken to his cell. The computer-headed robot cop was just leaving the station when he heard gunshots from down the street. His illegal sensors kicked in, and Hal Monitor raced off to the nearest avenue, finding two Toads laying on the ground, already dead with bullet holes in their mushroom skulls. A sense of rage surfaced within Hal, reflected by the angry look on his face. His criminal detector was active, and he detected the murderer making a run for it. Hal gave chase, racing through the district with his sights set on the killer, a tall man in a trench coat. What did his dad say again; "Death is inevitable"? If Hal was correct, then the penalty for murder was also death, not just prison. Death would be what that criminal would be facing, and Hal was not like other cops, he would be punishing this individual hard. He caught up to the man in the coat, and struck him in the back of the neck. The criminal fell over and dropped his gun, along with many wallets, likely ones he'd just taken from the Toads. Hal turned him around, glaring at him furiously, and he made sure that ugly bearded mug knew he was in it big time. Oh, Hal Monitor was going to ensure he suffered greatly, starting now. First, he shot him in the knees, making sure the criminal didn't escape. And he scanned his identity, discovering in the files that this was Murd Hitarun, an ex-soldier and a criminal. Second, Hal dragged him to a secure location, and set up... the electric chair. Once everything was ready, Hal made sure Murd was comfortable, and he had him stare into his angry face. He prepared to flip the switch, but first, the robotic law enforcer decided to lay it out to Murd. Hal knew what he was going to say, and illegal activity made him so mad, he felt it would help if he told the soon-to-be dead criminal why he was in trouble. "Do you know what 'illegal' means, Murd?" Hal buzzed, "It means that it is wrong, that it isn't a good thing. You could have chosen to do legal things, like helping others, but you picked a messed up path. My father is dead, murdered by someone who never let me get to properly know him, and my purpose is to uphold the law in the Mushroom Kingdom. "They say everyone deserves a second chance, BUT YOU DON'T GET ONE! YOU CROSSED THE LINE AND THOUGHT NO ONE WOULD CATCH YOU, BUT JUSTICE WAS FAR BEHIND! NO ONE SHOULD EVER MURDER ANYONE, AND THOSE TOADS WERE INNOCENT! YOU GET NO FREEDOM, NO SECOND CHANCE! The verdict is final: You are guilty!" And then, he flipped the switch. Murd screamed as over twenty-five thousand volts of electricity coursed through his body. He screamed and screamed, and Hal Monitor watched with a calm facial expression as the criminal writhed in the chair until he went limp. Hal shut off the chair, and stood over the smoking body of a murderer. "Justice served." Hal Monitor kicked the corpse of Murd, then he carried him out of the room, and lit the body on fire. Since the guy was already dead, nobody could hear him scream, and Hal Monitor whistled as he walked out while nobody questioned who was screaming. Hal summoned his police vehicle, and drove through the streets, ready to continue serving justice and fighting against crime. He turned on the radio as he decided to listen to some music, and just then, the signal cut out. "This just in!" A newscaster announced, "A shootout is taking place in downtown Mushroom City between several officers and a band of Koopas who have looted a mall and murdered several pedestrians. Two officers are in critical condition and four more have been gunned down in the line of duty." Hal Monitor's face lit up with anger, he knew of illegal activity when he heard of it, and it was time to take down some criminals. He made haste, and drove downtown, turned on his GPS, and drove to the district where the shootout was taking place. As he drove onto the next avenue, he saw the mall area, and the shootout that was in progress. Several cop cars had been set up as barricades, and the cops appeared to be pinned down while a pair of obvious Koopa criminals were unloading their ammo like mad. Time for Hal Monitor to enforce the law! He parked his car, and stepped out with a service revolver and a shotgun at the ready. Even with all the chaos happening, there was no way Hal was going to let a bunch of bullets stop him. He stepped forward, and fired off a shot from his shot gun. A Koopa screamed and dropped his gun, clutching his hand in agony as he dropped to the ground. The ducking cops, many of whom had mustaches, looked up to see the newly-arrived police enforcer. Hal didn't mind them, he went right for the criminals, and took them all on. "Who the hell is this mofo?" A Koopa asked. "The law!" Hal Monitor replied, and he knocked the gun out of the crook's hand, then he cuffed him and kneecapped him. One Koopa shot at Hal, grazing his arm, and Hal shot back, taking down the criminal. One by one, he took down criminals with not much resistance, even as the Koopas shot at the robotic officer. Moments later, the chaos subsided, and most of the Koopas were in police custody as medics arrived to tend to the cops who'd been wounded in the line of duty. One cop looked up at Hal Monitor and remarked, "Nice job there, what's your name?" "Hal Monitor." Hal Monitor replied. "Welcome to the force, Mr. Monitor." Another cop said. "YOU SUCK, YOU DAMN COMPUTER-HEAD FOR A COP!!!" An apprehended Koopa yelled. Hal Monitor ignored him, and took the compliments from the other officers, neither of whom seemed to be concerned that the new officer wouldn't hesitate to kill a criminal while enforcing justice. Then again, perhaps nothing's illegal when you're on the side of justice...The End...
