Didn´t saw it, but i fear another dissapointment in a long row(of modern. heartless movie-concepions as well as on SW storys). So, another title that will walk through my TV if a friend may bring it, another two hours with chips and coke. And maybe ... another dissapointment.

It's probably well made enough on a technical level, but I have less than zero interest in ever watching it. While I've never been too into Star Wars, the first two(4 and 5) are very well made and effectively simple stories. However now, Star Wars is treated as this universe of limitless potential and possibilities, only in actuality to be one of the most closed and small universes in pop culture- if you venture too outside the proven formula, it ceases to be Star Wars, hence why every single film in the franchise is basically the same exact damn thing. I've gotten so incredibly bored by this world and the same characters that keeping popping up, I wish it all would end.

A boring mockumentary. I wish it wasn't directed by Gareth Edwards. He knows how to frame nice shots but isn't a great story teller. Wish Disney gave him more time to work on the film. Even the soundtrack had to be finished in one month.

Originally plans of the Death Star has been acquired by rebels thanks to Kyle Katarn.
I dont like this retconning, Disney so uncool lately, it is unbearable.

Also all hail hijab and all the people of color.

Visually best SW movie for me. And one of the most enjoyable and fun ones, too.

You know what would be even more fun than a gritty war movie where everyone dies at the end?
A documentary about Yuuzhan Vong culture and its traditions (mass sacrifice, ritual self-mutilation, slavery, caste discrimination, pain worship, etc...) cause that's a pretty exciting part of Star Wars that too few people know about.

Well, Jyn Erso's death will certainly put an end to the theory of her being Rey's Mother.

Possibly better than all the rest.  A simple little commando raid, without worrying too much about the politics of the Jedi or the Sith

Despite enjoying it I still found it to be an objectively flawed due to the plot holes and inconsistencies.  Personally I am more curious about seeing all the stuff they cut out when the blu-ray is released because there are a lot of blatantly missing scenes which always bummed me out.

Regardless I still have to rank it as the best so far of the new Star Wars movies and look forward to having a new one ideally every year now

First really cool Star Wars movie since the original trilogy. There's something fun about it that I really like. There's that original dark done paired with some light humour and mixed in with tons of new planets, characters and tech. Prequels felt like a different universe with their looks and TFA didn't really bring nothing new to the table.
Rogue One seems like the first true expansion to the universe, because it showed "more". No reused locales (Yavin being just a quick stop) or characters (old ones were on just for a few minutes max). Story was truly original from the beginning to the end too.
I'm going to buy both the concept art book and the visual guide because for the first time in years I feel like I want to see everything that went into making of this movie. There's so much creativity that TFA feels extremely bland in comparison now. Heck, the ending was just as emotional as Empire's or Jedi's strongest scenes. It's also the best action sequence. Jedi would win with its space battle, but those Ewoks never convinced me.

I haven't gotten the Art Book yet but the Visual Guide is quite good with lots of fun little nods to continuity with the original trilogy. All the little notes on random items, even the little trinkets,  are always enjoyable

Yeah even small stuff such as people on Jedha and Dr. Evazan being connected makes it all that much more fun. I hope there's a 4-hour extended version on Blu-Ray, because there's a ton of things that could use more exposure.

Very refreshing to have something out of the original storyline.
Good characters, not a perfect movie but worthwhile.
